Thomas C. McGowan Jr., 45, of Secane, a service manager for Goodyear Tire Co., died June 23 at Springfield Hospital.

Born in Darby, Mr. McGowan was a resident of Secane for the last 10 years. Before moving to Secane, he lived in Collingdale and Westbrook Park. He attended Upper Darby High School and worked as a Goodyear service manager for 17 years.

Mr. McGowan was a Navy veteran. He was the former chief of Collingdale Fire Co. No. 2 and a former member of Primos Secane Westbrook Park Fire Co. No. 5, Upper Darby Township. A member of the American Legion Post 193 in Sharon Hill, Mr. McGowan was also a member of St. John's Evangelist Lutheran Church in Folcroft and a former member of St. Mark's Temple Lutheran Church in Clifton Heights.

Surviving are his wife, Joanne M. McCulley McGowan; a son, Thomas C. McGowan of Conshohocken; two daughters, Jenna McGowan and Laura McGowan, both of Secane; his mother, Helen M. Koch McGowan of Clifton Heights; a sister, Lynda M. Devaney of Secane; and a granddaughter.

His father was the late Thomas C. McGowan Sr., who died in 1992.

The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. John's Evangelist Lutheran Church, Glen and Folcroft avenues, Folcroft. Calling hours are after 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at O'Leary Funeral Home, 640 E. Springfield Road, Springfield.

Burial will be at Glenwood Memorial Gardens in Broomall. Contributions may be made to St. John's Evangelist Lutheran Church, Glen and Folcroft avenues, Folcroft, PA 19032.
