It's that time - the reunion prep time - and now it's 55 years!! As the Mistress of our Web - I prepare the mailing labels and also process address changes, including those classmates who have passed away since our last reunion. While going through our memorial pages I saw Jack's page - and felt his loss again. Jack and I really didn't hang in school. We would sometimes walk up Shadeland Ave together to DHJH. He took a summer school science workshop with me or what nerds do on their summer vacation. And many many years later he was one of my first Facebook friends. We would chat, play Farmville, and reminisce about UDHS. He told me he thought I was funny in school. He had a FB Page for his dog - that was funny. Then as years passed, Jack became ill and suffered strokes. He couldn't see very well and therefore couldn't read, so we would talk on the phone. But that became more difficult as he lost is ability to speak. He had moved in with his sister in DH and I planned to visit, but he died. Regrets? - yes. Call that friend you are missing - it just may make you smile.

Jack sat next to me in homeroom and we were friends as well. We would hang out together on weekends and I saw him a few times while I was in the Army. I met him while I lived in Westbrook Park. I do admit that we "partied" a little as it was the culture. We were into speakers and stereos and he bought a pair of speakers from me. One really wild night (I'm a little cautious about sharing) my father drove us to 42nd St, Times Square in NYC to check things out. I'll leave it at that, LOL! One night we both worked in the kitchen of "Clam Tavern" in Clifton Heigth. His nickname was "Doc".

Reading the posts of Patte & Rich it shows Jack lived a full life. I knew him only casually but was always nice to talk to. Rich your post made me laugh out loud & makes me happy knowing you had some "exciting" times. Nothing like our teen years ... I lived every minute to the fullest & hope everyone else did as well. Rest peacefully Jack!

I forgot to mention that we both loved baseball. I was a SF Giants fan (Jack was a closet Giants fan, LOL!). So, we would get tickets to see the Giants/Phillies at Connie Mack for a night game. We would take the EL to city hall. Pick up the 33 bus (talk about a dangerous bus ride) to the stadium area at 21st and Lehigh, North Philly. We saw Willie Mays, Juan Marichal etc. All the great Phillies like Johnny Calison, Chris Short, Jim Bunning, etc. Even got a foul ball from Willie McCovey. We always bought deluxe box seats too!! I can remember it like it was yesterday.
